FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. I am not in network with any insurance carriers. However, I can provide clients detailed receipts to submit for out of network insurance claims or HSA reimbursement.

What are your fees? My fee is $300 per session. I can accept credit, debit, HSA or most FSA cards.

Do I need to commit to weekly sessions, or can I schedule and cancel whenever I want?

I ask clients to commit to meeting either weekly or every-other-week on a recurring basis. I will do my best to find a reschedule option if a client has a scheduling conflict. However, it is important to find a consistent day and time that a client can meet on a recurring basis.

How long should I expect therapy will take?

Typically, we’ll meet weekly for at least the first 3-4 months. During that time, we consistently assess the usefulness of therapy for you. We use that feedback to have a collaborative conversation about whether to stop, continue weekly sessions, or shift to meeting every other week. Longer-term therapy is available per clients’ request, interest, or therapeutic needs.

What is your approach to therapy?

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction approaches. Through our work, we can help you develop a clear set of practical skills to improve behavioral and thought patterns that have historically kept you stuck or in unhealthy cycles. I emphasize a client-centered approach that creates a customized therapeutic plan integrating my expertise, your needs/requests, and your strengths. We go at your pace and comfort level. Structured, short-term or longer-term series of sessions are available. Please feel free to email me (david@drdavidscheinfeld.com) to set up a complimentary phone call. From there we can discuss your needs and determine whether my practice is a good fit for you.

Do you provide teletherapy/telehealth and in person therapy options?

Yes, I am happy to provide either or both teletherapy and in person appointments.

What should I expect during my first session?

During your first session, we will review the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and relational patterns negatively impacting your life. We will also establish your strengths and what has been working for you. This helps give me an understanding of where you’re coming from and how therapy can be most useful to you. From there we will develop a clear game plan and attainable goals to help you learn and implement insight-building strategies and coping skills to maintain intrapersonal and interpersonal health.

Do you only provide individual therapy?

Although I have experience providing couples and group therapy, right now I only provide individual therapy. Clients are welcome to invite others into their therapy process on a limited basis if it helps support the client’s therapy goals.
